Family Constellation is an approach deriving from family therapy or systemic therapy. It draws on various disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and anthropology, and integrates elements of systemic thinking and psychoanalysis. It aims to explore and understand the dynamics within a family system.

Basis

People are strongly influenced by the history, relationships, and unresolved difficulties of their family, even across several generations. Family systems have an inherent order and structure that affects the well-being of their members.

Procedure

Individuals or figurines are positioned (constellated) in the room or on the system board to represent family members and are placed in relation to each other. This is meant to visualize the web of relationships within a family. Representatives never stand in for their own person.

At a glance, relationships and previously unrecognized connections across several generations can be captured. Tensions, conflicts, and unfavorable connections become visible.

Value

Family Constellation is an effective method to bring to surface unconscious aspects of the personality and to reveal and resolve entanglements.

This allows the clients to gain new insights, clarity, and understanding of their concern. They discover their own resources and potentials (anew).

Organizational constellations, also known as systemic constellations or systemic coaching in organizations, apply the principles of family constellations to organizations. The goal is to explore and understand the dynamics within organizations, identifying and addressing hidden systemic issues, improving team dynamics, and enhancing organizational performance.

Similar to family constellations, organizational constellations recognize that organizations have an inherent order and structure that influence behavior, relationships, and overall functioning of the system. This approach acknowledges organizations as complex systems consisting of individuals, teams, hierarchies, and interconnected elements that mutually influence each other.
